The charts are ever changing and with so much music out there, it is often hard to find new music. Once again, we have collected five songs to find out if you have heard them yet! From brand new music to catchy tunes that may not have hit the Billboard 100, we have a variety of different music and artists picked out for you this week.
Issues – Julia Michaels
It seems that Julia Michaels has appeared from nowhere, and that may be half true. The singer-songwriter has been behind the scenes for many years writing music for well known artists including Demi Lovato. Last year, Julia Michaels sang with ever rising DJ Kygo at the closing ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. After releasing her first solo single, Issues, earlier this year, her name has suddenly appeared everywhere. Issues hit the charts at top speed and has maintained its position at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a couple of weeks now. The song is catchy and has a slight electronic undertone which may be due to her past collaborations. With relatable lyrics and a catchy tune, it is no wonder Issues has been on the charts now for seven weeks.
I Don’t Wanna Live Forever – Zayn & Taylor Swift
Zayn, ex-member of the highly successful British boy band 1 Direction, has teamed up with the even more successful country singer turned pop star Taylor Swift to produce one of the most popular songs of the year. I Don’t Wanna Live Forever not only hit the charts at top speed, it also featured on the highly watched Fifty Shades Darker movie which was released earlier this year. The song hit #2 on the Billboard Charts before slowly making it’s way back down – it sits at #4 currently. The song has highly emotional lyrics that talk about a couple of lovers who seemingly have split. With perfect beats and high pitched singing, the song is one to listen to.
The Other – Lauv
Lauv seems to have risen to fame after releasing his song The Other which appears to have become an incredibly popular song played via the music service provider Spotify. With over 50 million listens on Spotify, Lauv has created an absolutely incredible song. With highly emotional lyrics, the song talks about a relationship that has come to an end. The singer continues to sing about saying goodbye and asking for one more chance. With so much emotion, The Other is a song that can help you get through hard times, whether it is temporary or permanent loss of something or someone. Although this song hasn’t hit the charts, it is one to give a listen to for the incredible and powerful message alongside the singers beautiful voice.
Get Low – James Vincent McMorrow
Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow has been writing and creating music since the mid 200o’s. With the release of his first album in 2010, the singer has managed to stay under the radar for quite some time now. That is until he released his hit song Get Low. Although many music fans have yet to hear the song, the music and lyrics combination will completely blow you away. Much like Lauv, the music service provider Spotify has been doing wonders for James Vincent McMorrow as well. The song has an incredible beat with 808’s, guitar, and drums. If you can’t get enough of his song, listen to the Song Exploder podcast, where James Vincent McMorrow himself breaks the song down, including the beat and the lyrics, which will provide you with the ultimate respect and love for this tune!
Galway Girl – Ed Sheeran
Heading back to the Billboard Charts, it is no secret that Ed Sheeran has completely taken them over. His latest song to hit the charts, Galway Girl, has hit #53 on the Billboard Hot 100 and will continue to climb until it reaches close to the top! In the spirit of celebrating Saint Patricks Day this week, Galway Girl has a traditional Irish sound with fast paced lyrics. This song is completely unique to anything else on the charts, where it combines an older and more traditional sound with the unique singing and almost rapping that Ed Sheeran is so clearly capable of! Most of the songs from his latest album, Divide (÷), have hit the charts and the singer is breaking records, not only back home in the UK, but worldwide too.
