Also known as Tim Bergling, the world famous Swedish DJ has previously released two studio albums. Avicii first rose to fame in 2011 when he released his mega hit song “Levels”. Taking a few lines from the Etta James song “Somethings Got a Hold on Me”, the tune quickly became famous worldwide. Avicii later went on to release hit songs “Wake Me Up”, “Hey Brother”, and “You Make Me”. Throughout his musical career, Avicii has had year after year standing residencies at nightclubs in both Ibiza and Las Vegas. Furthermore, he has spent many days touring the world playing shows and festivals across almost every continent in the world.
Earlier last year, Avicii told fans that he would no longer be touring. In an online letter addressed to fans in May of 2016, the mega hit DJ opened his heart to tell listeners that he didn’t have enough time to pursue interests in his personal life in between creating music, touring, and playing at his DJ residencies in Ibiza and Las Vegas. In 2016, he wrapped up touring between the popular Spanish party island and the crazy scene of Las Vegas as well as playing at Creamfields Festival in the UK and the Electric Daisy Carnival. Prior to the announcement, Avicii had embarked on a road trip with friends, which was something he was rarely able to do, and realized he missed the simple things in life.
Although you won’t be able to see him play live, at least anytime soon, Avicii will keep making music and reaching fans through his tunes. He also left fans with a glimmer of hope saying that he never says never, so it’s possible that a few years from now the DJ will be back touring or playing residencies in Ibiza or Vegas.
