American singer-songwriter Beck has been working on his latest album for the past few years. Admitting that it probably should have been released a couple of years ago, Beck has announced that the brand new album will be released in October and will be called “Colors”.
Beck, who is an award winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer has said the new album “Colors” was inspired by American rock band The Strokes. He also stated that the album could have come out sooner, however each song is “trying to do two or three things at once. It’s not retro and not modern. To get everything to sit together so it doesn’t sound like a huge mess was quite an undertaking.” Many fans and music critics don’t know, but Beck has been working on this album since 2013 and the songs have become increasingly complex. This will be the 13th studio album coming from Beck, who has been making music since the 1990’s.
In 2015, Beck garnered much unwanted attention during the Grammy Awards, when he was awarded the Album of the Year award. Before he could even begin to thank those who had voted or acknowledge his prestigious win, Kanye West infamously took to the stage to announce that he believed Beyonce should have won the award. Beck acknowledges this moment as one of the more “trippy” things that has happened in his life. Other than playing shows around the globe, this is the last time Beck was understandably seen on a public stage at an award show. His 2014 album “Morning Phase” was arguably one of the best albums of the last decade, which brings more anticipation for his new album “Colors”.
Hopefully in the near future, we will see a solo tour coming from the incredibly talented Beck for his new album “Colors”. For now, check out the upcoming tour dates for Beck below. Many of the tour dates are from the 2017 U2 Joshua Tree World Tour, where Beck will serve as an opening act.
